Vision:

To prepare competent students with significant practical skills, gratified knowledge and research approaches in English Language, Literature, Linguistics, and Translation.

Mission:
  • To develop and upgrade the competence in the language.
  • To train in critical inquiry and develop the literary sensibility through courses in different genres of literature, literature of different nations and literary categories.
  • To develop professional standards of communication in students.

History:

Department of English, one among the first departments to be created when the college was established in 2009, offering initially the Bachelor’s degree. The department began to offer Post-graduate degree programme from 2012 and M.Phil. and PhD programmes from 2015 and 2016 on-wards respectively.

There are 16 faculty members attached to the department. Four faculty members are holding PhD. The faculty members have published 65 papers in journals, conferences and seminars. Presently there are 142 students at the undergraduate level, 38 at PG level and 41 M.Phil. scholars. The department strives hard to enlighten younger minds to observe the world with aesthetic, literary and utilitarian perspectives.
