Dr. P. Philominathan received his graduation in B.Sc.(Physics) Degree (1980- 83) from St, Joseph’s College (autonomous), Trichirappalli, affiliated to Madras University, Madras, post-graduation in M.Sc.(Physics) degree(1983-85) from the same college affiliated to Bharathidasan University and the M.Phil.(Physics) degree in 1988, from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. He persuaded his Doctoral research degree in Theoretical Physics at the Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics, School of Physics, Bharathidasan University as Teacher researcher under FIP of UGC, New Delhi. He got recruited as Chargeman (Electronics) for Opto-electronics Project (Ministry of Defence), at Dehradun during 1986-1990. Later, from 1990, he is associated with PG and Research Department of Physics, AVVM Sri Pushpam College (Autonomous), Poondi, as Lecturer, Reader, Research Supervisor, Associate Professor, Head of the Department and with Sri Pushpam Institute of Management Studies as Director for Management Studies.
After getting Voluntary Retirement, he assumed office as Principal at Annai Vailankanni Arts and Science College,Thanjavur, in Jan.2021.He is a recipient of several awards and fellowships including DST-SERC Visiting Teacher Fellow (at Department of Physics, Anna University, Chennai) and category ’A’ speaker for the theoretical physics seminar circuit programme of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. His autobiography has been included in inventors category in the prestigious register, namely, ’ Who’s Who in the World’ by Marquis biographical society of USA. From research perspective, he had published more than 75 research articles in international refereed journals and authored/ co-authored two books. In addition, three Major Research Projects funded by University Grants Commission and DST-Inspire & RGRP research programs have been successfully completed by him.
He has produced fifteen Ph.D’s and 100+ M.Phil. scholars in context of manpower. His major research interests span over the area of Material Science including thin film technology, Nano particles synthesize , crystal growth and Nano medicines. The other major wing of his research is attributed towards Nonlinear dynamics, Specifically chaos in electronic circuits and physical dynamical systems. Moreover, he is currently engaged as an active reviewer in several International peer reviewed journals. His abroad visits cover Dubai, Singapore, Sultanate of Oman and Australia regarding academics.
